Cold Spot Feeds Inc. was started on a whim in 1986 by Connie Core Dubay during a late-night conversation regarding the need for an affordable dog food geared toward the long-distance sled dog mushers in the area. The original Cold Spot Feeds store was located in a single bedroom of Connie's Fairbanks home, then expanded to her garage, and eventually a true brick-and-mortar store next to her home.

By 2003, Cold Spot Feeds had moved to the main shopping district in Fairbanks and then upgraded to its current location at 377 Helmericks Avenue in 2010. A few short years later, Connie hired Tim Erickson, a long-time North Pole resident and former Walmart Store Manager as their General Manager. Tim brought to Cold Spot a 30-year retail career and expertise in operations, people and merchandising to enhance what the company had already developed. Over the next few years of rapid growth and expansion, the store now encapsulates over 30,000 sq./ft., offers 8,500+ items and employs 20 full-time team members.

In 2023, Erickson purchased Cold Spot Feeds and continued the company's priorities on fostering a friendly, organized, clean and pet-friendly environment for all to enjoy. Our team members understand that by doing our job responsibilities with CONSISTENCY, we build TRUST with our customers and that leads to long-term LOYALTY. In 2026, Cold Spot will be celebrating 40 years in business and we are excited for the opportunity to continue to serve our community for many more years.

In terms of community support, Cold Spot continues to focus our resources on regional mushing events, feeding the hungry, housing the homeless supporting local recycling initiatives, as well as area sports and youth activities. As Cold Spot Feeds has transitioned into Cold Spot - For Healthy Pets, our commitment and dedication to our customers will continue to be our top priority; we demand excellence in all that we do and hope to have the continued support of the communities we serve.
